India win the U19 Cricket World Cup

YOUNG Indian batting maestro Unmukt Chand steered his country to its third ICC Under-19 World Cup title at Tony Ireland Stadium yesterday with a six-wicket grand-final victory over Australia.

The Aussies had little answer to Chand’s unbeaten innings of 111 runs, which included six 6’s and seven fours, and his first-class composure ultimately sealed Australia’s fate.

Australia was sent into bat first by India and made 8/225 – one of the highest totals of a top-tier match at the World Cup – but the total was simply not enough to keep at bay the talented Indian batsmen, who made 4/227 with 14 balls to spare.
